Mod axle braces :)
By: Kingfisher8 Date: December 24, 2015, 6:08 am

Hey guys, just after a bit of advice and maybe a photo. I'm
currently rebuding the front axle on my Swb series 3 and when
ordering the parts saw some axle braces they say where on the
mod spec series so decided to order them :) but does anybody
have a photo of how they are welded on? I know it's pretty self
explanatory as where they go but don't know wether to fully weld
them on or just do a good about of shortish runs.
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas.

I am probably barking up the wrong tree here, but I came across
this thread where he rebuilt the axle re-enforcer:

Yes that's the axle bracing I was on about, looks like he welded
it completely so that's what I'll do on Tuesday when I'm next at
the workshop :) will put photos up of anybody else searches for
it.

I went to weld it on today but I've been a bit silly... Looks
like they only fit on the rear axle haha so when I rebuild that
I'll post the pics of it. Oops.

I thought they where welded on the bottom but looks like it's
slightly fowArd from the bottom, think I'm just gonna put the
brace on the rear now anyways, as I've already painted my front
axle now :) cheers though

I've got MOD axles under the 88, the rear purchased as a recon
complete unit and the front as a casing only. Not the best of
photos but you can see the reinforcement.

As far as I know these MOD additions perform different
functions. The front is to reduce the risk of impact damage to
the axle casing by deflecting objects away, the rear is to
increase strength/minimise the chance of damage to the casing
caused by squaddies overloading the motor then doing a Dukes of
Hazzard jump.
