       Hi.
Someone I know had this vehicle when they were little and want
to trace it again. It is in the North East and so thought Puddle
Jumper and others might know of it.
       Thanks.

Thanks Kev. When they weighed it they must have had a few spare
       engines in the back.

i think "revenue weight" is another term for gross train weight,
i.e the maximum weight of fully laden vehicle (its own
weight+cargo) plus trailer maximum authorised mass. its also a
banding system for taxation and MOT testing, i think 3500 and
       over becomes light goods vehicle.
its a bit confusing but doesn't mean that's how much the vehicle
weighs. it does however mean that landy has been incorrectly
registered, revenue weight should be more like 2 tonnes for a
shorty, about 2.7 for a long wheel base.

       What does a shorty weigh?
Mine says a max gross vehicle weight of 2020Kg and it can tow a
trailer up to 2 ton, so I would expect the gross vehicle train
weight to be close to 4 ton.
That number plate would appeal to a member of the Military
       Vehicle Trust.

rooved shorties are around 1400kg (hard top slightly less,
station wagon slightly more). my vin says 2120 gross vehicle
weight which means i can carry about 700 kilos in the truck
itself. my vin says gross train weight is 6120, take off the
gross vehicle weight that means i can legally hang 4 tonnes on
the tow ball :o (but wouldnt, practically)

       Interesting
There's only one number on my V5 and that's "Revenue Weight
       3499Kg gross"
the plate on the bulkhead says Nax vehicle laden weight 2020Kg,
Max front axle weight 830Kg, max rear axle weight, 1150Kg,
       towing capacity 2 tons
Seems like some numbers don't add up. If I was driving fully
laden with a 2 ton trailer on ther hook, that would be 4020 Kg
so over the "revenue weight" so would I be breaking the law?
(one thing is for sure, I wouldn't be going very fast!!!)

on my vin, top to bottom it has
       SALblahblahblah
2120kg (which is gross vehicle weight)
6120kg (which is gross train weight)
       930kg (front axle weight)
       1190kg (rear axle weight)
your numbers seem right, i've just re-read my original reply
(the one about revenue weight) and it doesnt make sense, i cant
even think why i would have said that revenue weight is gross
train weight (other than the balance of vodka and mental
       capacity tipped the wrong way)
revenue weight is to do with taxation and MOT class, and should
reflect the gross VEHICLE weight, not train weight.
3499 on your V5 means its been lumped into the commercial
vehicle category. from memory this was a broad sweeping
generalisation that DVLA did to ninety% of land rovers back when
they went computerised. There was quite a bit of press about it
at the time and landy owners having to rectumfy it.
in short, there isnt really an issue, but you'd need to send
your V5 off to get the revenue weight changed to 2020

Could that be because it was originally a truck cab so that made
       it "commerciial"?

from what i remember, everything except station wagons were
       considered commercial vehicles.
