Finally... Nearly sorted...

Bought my 69 series 2a last year, failed the next MOT on a dodgy
chassis, so bit the bulllet and had her rebuilt from the new
galv chassis up by a local guru, lots of bodges fixed, lots of
new parts, spent a bloody fortune. I finally got the old girl
back a few weeks ago.
Thought that would be it for a while, just realising I was being
a bit naive.... Does it ever end? Why are they so addictive?? Is
there therapy available?.

Thanks, glad to know it's not just me.
Now it's mostly propery sorted I want to try and do as much a
poss myself, but being a mechanical nincompoop and an electrical
imbecile, i'll be asking advice from all the other sufferers out
there.
I do however know a bit about welding and different metals so if
i can help please ask away.

Welcome; but if you think Land Rovers cost a fortune, don't even
think about the cost of therapy - it's off the scale. No, just
enjoy our mutual addiction - think of it as a kind of Landy's
Anonymous - There's even a 12-step plan. 1. Buy your project 2.
Find its rotten as hell 3.Look at the cost of a new chassis and
bulkhead 4.Oh that wiring looks as though it's got very
hot-maybe I should replace that too. 5. What's that funny noise
now? And so on and so on. It doesn't end, like the seven circles
of hell, just suck it up and enjoy the good times when they
happen - my mate calls them 'days of hopeful anticipation' .
The two happiest days of your life are the day you buy the
subject of your desire, and the day you move it on, he says.
Mind you he's a miserable perisher at the best of times.
Seriously, it can get better; I've had my 88" for two years now
and - touch wood - I recently totted up more journeys without
breakdowns than with them. Prior to that I was just a constant
source of amusement for my neighbours as I unloaded my folly
from the AA transporter for the nth time. Keep the faith brother
-it works out ok eventually. And use the forum - it's as good as
the Samaritans!!

Welcome dude, its a lot more fun doing it yourself and you learn
as you go along, thats the way i did it, not all right first
time and it took me 2 years and a lot of help to get it all
rebuilt but it was worth it for the leanring curve.

Thanks! I will persist, even just to prove to my missus that it
isn't , quote; 'the stupidest thing you've ever bought'! No
taste, some women.
