       Austerity Jane
By: Dark Skies Date: October 26, 2015, 7:18 pm

This was a ground up rebuild and I had to make savings somewhere
because I'd been fleeced on Ebay. Consequently I made the
non-standard items myself, including the dash, radio box, the
floors, and the seat box. Plus a lot of the stuff you can't
see. Paint is Halfords cammo green. Everything done on the
cheap where possible - hence the name Austerity Jane.

attention to detail and your time is worth way more than ££, and
       it shows :)
i genuinely had to double take the engine bay as it looks so
tidy to the point of theres stuff actually missing!!

Don't apologise for that, it looks to be a fine job - and more
importantly, you've kept it on the road  As Darren
says, the engine bay looks superb!

A very tidy, straight example with it's owners stamp. That has to
be the target of many owners I would have thought!
       Well done you chap.

Thanks for the kind words. I stripped out a lot of the genuine
Land Rover stuff that didn't really work that well or hampered
access for servicing. Hence the K@N instead of the huge oil
bath filter and pipework. An electric fuel pump instead of the
clunky great mechanical thing, removal of the heater fan shell
and such. The latter didn't really do anything but gently fart
into the cabin on both speeds. I replaced it with a direct
contact bilge fan from a boat for about £12 new. This really
forces the heat into the cabin in a meaningful way - I did away
with all the ducting as the cabin is essentially a soft top
truck cab and heats up swiftly wherever you are sitting. I do
have to wipe condensation off the interior windows in the
morning - but then I had to do that anyhow with the venting. :)
All original parts were sold on to people that wanted them for
their projects - so my project got money and restorers had
       sought after parts. Win win.

lol i didnt even notice the oil bath missing, i was staring at
the empty corner thinking, hmm, naa maybe its because there's no
       servo ;D whoops
not a criticism but do you think you will paint the new dash
pod? the way the interior is laid out it almost looks a bit
like a series two and three quarters if you know what i mean?
old fasioned metal vibe like the S2, but updated
