hmmm! my first land rover (2009-2012) was the first one i saw
complete with rusty (nearly missing) appendages in all
directions, an MOT fail from a few weeks previous as long as
your leg, which had now miraculously vanished, 12 months ticket,
yet all of the faults still present on the test drive. paid too
much for it, it broke down on the way home because alternator
wasnt charging. baptism of fire !
however ! as a learning process remedying all of the above it
was way more valuable than the ££ on the advert. looking
forward to more retrospect udpates and future ones :)
p.s not that i like to stick the boot in when a mans down, but
did you notice the door hinges are held on with hex bolts with a
slot cut into the head ? (they wouldve been round and
countersunk) so yeah, more fun and games :D

Thanks all for your interest.
DarrenH,
yes I had fun with those door hinges, which involved many swear
words and ended with a plasma cutting disc on my 4" angle
grinder!!
My "new" G90 tyres have slightly wobbly side walls which I am
not sure the MOT tester will like much :-\
Cheers Steve

yeah mine are like that, i think its innertube tbh, patch or a
crease. i believe it will only fail if the bulge in the actual
tyre is caused by visible tyre defect or structural failure.

Cheers Darren that's reassuring to hear 8)
So not much point putting the floor back in, without at least
attempting a repair........
Roof, sides and rear tub removed:

The leaf springs were so rusty that they had burst out of their
clamps in some places:

Seat box was rotted out behind seat belt mounts, and the tool
box area under passenger seat was a right mess.....

So new side panels, tool tray and centre tray were sourced from
YRM.... and many pop rivets later:

Looking good.
New seat box ends are a high priority job on mine not as rotten
at the bottom, but around the screw holes for the vertical bit
of the sill, letting too much water in from the wheel arch

"the safety harness anchorages in this vehicle comply with
BSAU48"
galvanic corrosion begs to differ :D
