       landy jane, the 109...

2 build threads on the go now. Today i took delivery of the 109
       i bought from Sam (captainSlow).
She arrived tea time today so only had a quick chance to look
her over. Panels nice and straight, starts, stops and drives ok.
Some work to do but it will be a case of getting to MOT standard
and then more of a rolling project. Not going to paint her,
leaving the patina there, although i may well polish her up.
Tried a small bit on a wing top and the paint came up nice. The
interior roof is ot going to be fun to clean. I know people
stick carpet to the inside of the roof, but this has had
polystyrene tiles at some point :o new one on me for sure.
So, a good clean up, get all the welding etc done, full service
including all fluids, check brakes etc then take her for an MOT.
She will be put to work as the school run vehicle (going to
freak out the ones who turn up in X5's etc) and as my daily
driver. Some quick pics taken when she arrived...
parked on what is the wild flower meadow in spring. Been told i
can't use that as a parking spot

Glad that you love her as much as we did (still do!) It was a
bit weird opening the front door this morning and not seeing her
       there.
She needs a lot of TLC but she'll make a cracking 109 when done.
I've been amazed that she starts on LPG even after being left
for several weeks - in fact she started very promptly yesterday.
I was expecting to need to encourage her a bit, but no, she
started on the button. Sorry that I didn't have time to adjust
the door lock properly - it was a case of get it in asap and
make it as awkward to open as I can, as I live in an area
       twinned with Beirut!
Looking forward to seeing her being returned to the road. The
sale was a pleasure Jonny, wish they all were as straight
forward, and glad that Martin could get her over to you for a
bit less that you'd been quoted. Believe it or not I didn't
mention your quote - Martin came up with that figure unprompted
       lol.

       cheers Sam,
had a good pat this morning. Gave her a good jet wash today,
roof looks limestone again. Got myself soaked doing it though
::) started ok today, needed a little boost but once running was
       fine.

       Looking good!
BTW I was intrigued about why the wheels looked more deep set
than they should... They're std LWB rims, but there are some
spacers behind them. If you don't want them I'd be interested in
buying them back :) I was going to take them off but you bought
Jane too quickly and I thought it wouldn't be right to start
stripping the good bits off after she'd been sold - bits like
the spacers and the dash lol.

i noticed the spacer yesterday. Like you i wondered why the
wheels looked so big. Well made things as well. Will give you a
       shout if i don't use them ;-)
Really pleased with her. Not sure whether to re-chassis or try
and fix the one on her, but maybe a bit beyond. No hurry to
decide though, i will put her to one side and cover her up until
the station wagon is sorted. Think she will be going diesel for
       sure

I was going to re-chassis her with a new galvy one, but I didn't
get a reply from Richards and Designer Chassis has a 9 month
waiting list! I was after a very non-standard spec mind you. If
you fancy a bit of fettling, there is a new old stock genuine LR
109 Stage One V8 chassis for sale on ebay - the basic chassis is
very similar so you'd only need to move a few crossmembers and
change the engine mounts. The gearbox crossmember is removable
on these so you could swap that for a std Series gearbox cross
member - Richards sell removable ones. Just a thought.

Putting a diesel in? Oh no.... Enjoy the 2.25 on gas surely?
