cleaning parts before galvanizing?

Hi all,
quick question here, I'm about to take various bits to get them
galvanized but I was wondering whether I need to clean them with
something before the process?
Obviously they are free from all paint but they are old
galvanized bits, would sandblasting beforehand help get a better
result?
thanks for all the help

No - they will acid dip to remove all the old galv & rust.
As long as there's no paint on you don't need to clean them

Cheers,
Robin.

Make sure the grease is off and if you have anything dipped that
could possibly contain airpocket - drill 12 mm holes to let the
air out.

one more question about the appearance of the galvanized part.
currently they have the flaky, ice crystal kind of look to them
and that is what I want, but most newly galvanized parts have a
uniform spray painted look. will the desired look develop over
time or is it a different process?

Mine were a little bit uniformly shiny when redone, been about
two and a half years now and they are weathering in nicely, nice
crystalline pattern is visible now.
