It's been painted on by a previous owner to try and make it look
'military'. The original was covering it (1981 if i remember
this early in the morning) . He even went to the trouble of
making a false ariel mount for the wing top amongst other bits
       of genius work :rolleye0012:

looks like your typical rear cross member repair. replacement
slips over the rotten ends of your old chassis rails then your
local coachworks just about manage to sneeze a molten steel
porridge towards the vehicles current post code.

I like the way you put that ;D ;D hope the old shite isn't
still in there but i reckon it is. It's getting there Sam. I
have the advantage of time on my hands

;D it makes you wonder how on earth the vehicles survive?
like people hauling 600 kilos of builders sand home from
travis-P@rkins with stuff like this lurking under the rear tub.
not saying mine is great and could do it, because it isnt
perfect either. i guess its just because they were "super duty"
as standard, then as time ticks on it deteriorates back to still
       pretty good.
p.s the reason i misspelt p@rkins is because the swear filter
changes it to Perkins. random ! ;D

theres another forum where M8 is in the swear filter because its
text talk :D changes it to gay friend or something which isnt
helpful when talking about metric bolts

got some more work done yesterday. Fucking rusty shite. You
would think after many old cars and land rovers i would be used
to it but it's still a pain in the arse :smiley-furious:
       Doesn't look so bad
