I take it you are refering to the water pump bottom hose inlet
       pipe?
If the aly pipe is severely corroded you will have large dimples
in the surface which may not seal up using just normal hose
pipes and clips (you must remove the corrosion/white powder as
       this will leak).
Once you get the aly properly clean and dry you can assemble the
bottom hose using rtv sealant and you will have a perfect sealed
joint. Consider using double hose clips. Remember a hose pipe
with rtv sealant is very hard to remove! Be sure its in the
       right place.

seems like this is the part

so yes the bottom hose inlet pipe. I do have large dimples in
       fact, felt very rough.
sorry what's aly? and rtv sealant?
       thanks for your helpollr

aly is aluminium and RTV is a silicone sealant (room temperature
       vulcanization)

On a 200Tdi the water pump has to come off to change the timing
belt. If you've not changed the timing belt and the last
date/mileage it was changed is unknown I'd be inclined to change
the water pump for a new one and whilst off do the belt at the
same time, could save a lot of grief in the long run. Otherwise
the RTV sealant route would work, personally not my cup of tea
as it makes the hose a complete cunt to get off later if you
       ever need to.
If you go down this route avoid cheap Britpart pattern shite.
Good quality stuff all the way. I got my kit from Glencoyne:

[font=Verdana]Went to Wurth for something else and told them
about the problem and they gave me bond and seal. But later I
read the label and it said it has no silicone. Anyway had some
time cleaned off the corrosion (it was flaking off) and applied
this bond and seal. Now waiting for it to dry before filling it

long strip of emery cloth, wrap it round, hold one end in each
hand, pull one side and alternate back and fourth (like drying
       yourself with bath towel)
older engines the water pump was iron

Your pump appears to have the outlets in a different position to
mine, mine has one at the bottom from the radiator, your
radiator plumbing looks to be better routed than mine, is the
       engine from a Defender?

from a 110. more inspection and it seems to be the shaft seal.

I wonder if the Disco and Defender pumps are interchangeable?
