hi. chris
consult shiplowcost (oh well cannot see them being really low
cost. i just ordered a parcel 55x55x50 at 13kg costing 45 euros
from north italy.) try contact car transporters. there is one in
gozo who operates every two or three weeks. he is called joe
bonnici. talk to companies that do shipping from uK. the engine
of a series should be in the regions of 300 kg? but i am not
sure. as for size it is similar to the 2.5 you have so if you
ask for quotes measure up your engine lxbxh. and check if it is
really worthed or not. at best keep looking for something local.
consult ciappella or the like.

Bonnici.

6cyl! i'l have a look at it tomorrow. what are your opinions
about it?

wastes a lot of petrol will make it uneconomical though fun.
it requires a proper bulkhead to suit it . if yours was a
standard 2.25 diesel/petrol it will require modifications i do
not know if it would prove a problem with ADT but check before.
i do not know if the 2.6 was still in production during the year
yours was built.
i remember him. wow that must be a find for him. i know of a
wrecked/worn out s3 pickup which was originally 2.6l petrol. it
is a nice motor . i met three people in switzerland who still
run the 2.6 engine it is quite a site :) but unless standard
fitment for yours i would not use it. Parts for it are rather
rare and would be costly to maintain.
then again i dont know what kind of pockets you have got or if
wife approves such expenses :)

wife is a bit difficult :D
origianlly it had 2.25 petrol, so my best bet is the 2.25 diesel

Have you thought about refitting a 2.25 petrol? Lovely smooth
engines and they run very well on LPG if that is available over
there?

it is available actually (LPG), but recently i've been told
diesels hold their value better, and spares are not so common
for petrol. power will suffer though?

I've run a Volvo T5 on LPG for a few years and never noticed the
difference to be honest. If its done properly its an ideal
solution IMHO - cheaper fuel, cleaner emissions. Plus you can
stick a 'HYBRID' sticker on the back and p1$$ off all those smug
Prius drivers ;D
