       gearbox help

       hi,
maybe a stupid question but will this fit onto a 2.5n/a engine?
does'nt matter if engine needs moving or anything, just if they
       will fit together and run?

The early 90s had 2.5 diesels and lt77s, so yes

That looks like an R380 from a 300 TDi Discovery (going by the
bellhousing and the position of the reverse light switch). You
can do 300 TDi engine to Series box, so I'd imagine you could do
       R380 to 2.5 N/A (with a bit of jiggery-pokery).
It also looks like the mainshaft output splines have suffered a
       bit.

       Hi,
I has been done, apparently successfully. Recently discussed on
the S2C forum, with pictures of gearbox in situ.
If used with TDi engine and 3.5 diffs, it will give the same
power train as a Disco, but more than half a ton lighter.

571228 (9 1/2 ") clutch pressure plate works for this release
mechanism ( so does earlier 9" 591705 but perhaps more fragile
behind a 2.5) but not sure if it will fit the 2.5 flywheel...
not too hard to drill and tap new fixing holes and grind off
locating pegs on the flywheel if they don't line up though.
