series 3 pressure plate with 2a release bearing...

       Hi all,
does anyone know if this might work? - a series 3 flywheel and
pressure plate mated to a 2a gearbox... ?
or is the centre boss essential to work with the earlier release
bearing? (ie change to the other 9.5 clutch)
Sorry if it seems a stupid question, just haven't got enough
bits lying around to measure or compare.
       Cheers,
       Will

       hi
yes it Works. we did change engine and clutch in 2a last year.
It was series 3 pressure plate and plate. My friend ment it was
harder to pedal, mybe it is stronger?
       Good Luck with the job!

It may work for a while but it will fail. It will be all out of
adjustment and eventually fatigue the cover fingers. Use the
9.5" driven plate, and the late 2a bossed cover plate with the
       2/2a release bearing.

Loosely related, is it possible to fit a SIII gearbox bell
housing to a series IIA gearbox, and is it an easy fit,
       straightforward?

Yes, if the 2a gearbox is a D suffix or higher. Use the matched
gears on the input shaft and layshaft, with spacer, or it will
       whine its tits off.
