Axle identification numbers

Can anyone shed some light on where I can find references to
axle id numbers and what they relate to.
I think I have a series 3 front axle in my series 1,the ref
number on it is 90131035 B ,I will be rebuilding this soon so it
would be good to know for parts ordering.
Any ideas ???

I've never seen a reference so to speak but axle numbers usually
relate to the type of vehicle rather than specifics. Your
901.....B axle will have come from an 88" series 3 but that
could have been any flavour, i.e. not necessarily a home market
basic like 901 relates to. My 109 station wagon has a 931
chassis number prefix but a 911.....B front axle. When they got
to 99999 axles the prefix increased by one as far as I know, so
91199999x would roll onto 91200001x. Best guess is early series
3 production for a 'B', my 109 is August '72.
