       Historic vehicles:
You don’t have to pay vehicle tax on vehicles made before 1
January 1975 (known as ‘historic vehicles’).
       How to do it:

The only thing I'd query is "The first time you tax a vehicle in
the historic vehicle tax class you must apply to DVLA, Swansea,
       SA99 1DZ".
I didn't with a lightweight that turned historic last year, just
wandered in to my local post office and changed it to historic
from PLG there and then and taxed it. Took 30 seconds with no
       grief at all.

Yes, you have to apply to change the tax status to Historic

You need to change the Tax class of the vehicle to "Historic"
until you do this they will always think you need to pay tax. I
did mine just recently - On you Log Book there is a section to
change the tax class of vehicle - Enter "Historic" and take to
the Post Office and they will change the tax class and you can
tax it for free there and then....easy peasy No need to send off
       or do anything online.
