Series 1 or 2 steering wheel fitment

Evening all,
At the minute I am helping to restore a 1940s American aircraft
tug. The steering wheel is beyond repair and replacements are
silly money. However, I reckon the sprung wheel from a Series 1
or 2 would be just the ticket.... If it fits.
From my rough measurement of the centre boss from the steering
column, I make it to be 7/8" diameter with 36 splines, and the
splines are about an inch in depth before the column becomes
threaded for the wheel retaining nut.
Can anyone tell me please if this would be in any way
compatible?

Series 1 & two are held on with a pinch bolt in the steering
wheel . Series 3 have spline and nut above.

This advert gives 36 spline but does not tell you diameter, drop
them an email.

Thanks for the recommendation, I shall give them a call to
double check fitment before I head for ebay. I've given up
slightly on the 50's look so long as I can find something that
fits and makes it driveable for now - the owner has decided in
the long run to put a quick-release kit on it to discourage the
local herberts from even thinking of joyriding it round the
airfield.....
