Best option for replacement head

Oh dear I thought it was just the gasket but no there's a big
old crack in top of pot two.
Anyhow, I need a new one and don't want to spend a fortune, if
anyone can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate
it.
So far I have only found Turner, who want to fix knackered ones
for £350 (not keen on that idea!).
Note that I just want the head I think, I can lap in the valves
and all that.
Vehicle is S2 1959 88", engine is 2.25 petrol 5MB, not sure
which compression but presumably 7:1.

used ones do come up for sale, but you've got to be careful as
some of the stuff that comes up is not great
can yours be repaired?

I don't think it can be repaired, the crack is in the head over
cylinder 2 and it looks very small, but pots 2 and 3 were full
of water and the sump is also full of water, so it must be worse
inside out of sight. I don't want to get a repair done and then
be facing leaks again in a couple of years.
Didn't realise spares had dried up so badly - maybe now is the
time to look at a modern diesel engine, 15mpg is getting a bit
pricey....

I have a late S3 8:1 Imperial head here, price negotiable, you
may need rocker cover, valve gear, pushrods etc to go with it,
as some changes affected these areas. I believe I have all of
those bits to suit too. Will accept swaps .. LR parts, OO gauge
BR Blue era rolling stock.... Ale, Cider, etc. Where are you in
the World?

I shall attempt this weekend and inform you when I crawl out
uninjured. If nobody has heard from me by Tuesday next, send a
search party to my Garage. Steif knows the address.
