Wish the sun would come out. I am thinking of taking the sump
off and replacing the gasket to stop an annoying little leak!

Hi I though after that first post you might have reminded me of
the Siege of Bastogne, I think I got off lightly, thank you!
Interesting to know that there was an A...DUX on OLLR before
mine is A229DUX. She was bought off a soldier from Telford who
told be a story about having to parachute jump for some royal
event, but the ground had been carved up in the wet from big
trucks the day before and the trenches were the cause of many
fractured bones when they landed. He was a good bloke and had
been driving her to work each day but was changing jobs, I was
well impressed that he was commuting in the beast! I actually
bought her with a cracking hangover and like most before me
almost shot through the front window the moment I touched the
brakes for the first time. I will check the date of purchase and
post this at some point.
She is a 2 and a quarter petrol engine with a webber carburetor
long wheel base 109 ex MOD FFR. So 24volt with a massive
alternator, I actually have a spare one which I am thinking of
putting on ebay at some point. Last summer I fitter a Toro
overdrive which to my frustration wouldn't engage properly,
almost killed me trying to slot it onto the gearbox, on an
off... until I could get it to fit properly, oh yeh I remember
now, the bloody tabs on that washer!!!!!! In the end I fitted a
Fairy overdrive which is working great. I took the Toro apart
recently and on what I think is the main shaft there must have
been a roller bearing that has almost dissolved, the rest of the
toro is good and in bits, I have kept the clutch sleeve safe, as
again at some point, it's going on ebay and some lucky bugger
will get it.
There is lots more to say and I am going to find some photos,
don't get too excited, from the outside it looks like a heap but
some of the work I have done on her I am very proud of.
I am thinking of replacing the leaf springs possibly, I read an
article about the design of new leaf springs (on vans) being
quieter and I also need to find an article from a landi mag I
have misplaced with a great list service stuff, I said something
about changing the oil in the steering bix and I have never done
that!! The duffs gearbox transfer box and fairy are full of
golden EP90 the smell of which I absolutely love. There should
be EP90 aftershave!!
