Hi,
I have an intermittant issue with the starting of my s1 that has
a s3 2.25 fitted. When I press the starter I get a clicking from
the solenoid but no start. Even putting a screwdriver across the
terminals doesn't do anything.
It started fine an hour ago and now nowt- any ideas?
Cheers for looking.
Toby

I would guess worn starter motor bushes.
try tapping / knocking the starter see if it comes to life after
a bit of precussive maintenance / part turn / vibrate

As you tap it shake it giving it a good whack Get someone to try
starting it at the same time That's what I had to do Starter
motor did kick in Although it eventually gave up and I got it
overhauled

or earth issues - I've had similar. Try a jump lead between the
battery negative terminal and the body or mounting bolt of the
motor. If it makes a difference, there's your problem

A knock with the handle of a hammer on the starter seemed to
work. New starter motor needed?
