there are more hes going through boxes of images. appears he was
one of the very few people who took the trouble to photograph
everything from everyday life in the NCB through the 60's and
70's cause he said they wont always be here.. soon as he finds
more ill post them up. we got one of the drill rig close up with
them next to it. but no landrover appears, which is why ive not
posted it. he said that they ruined it on the coal tips and it
was scrapped by 1983. they then gave them the closing down mines
rescue landrover, a 1965 series 2 LWB. that had 2000 miles on
the clock was looked after and garaged and gave a better
reflection from its paintwork than a mirror. was told by NCB
bosses to use that. he tried to buy it from them as he said it
was criminal to destroy it. even offfered to buy them a nearly
new series 3 in exchange. they werent interested. it lasted
until the NCB offices closed in my area around 1986 then it was
scrapped. tragic. there are images of that in the boxes too.
soon as i get them ill post them

Just noticed it looks like its got a full tilt on it. its a
truck cab in dark blue with the rear tilt. i know what colours
       im painting my LWB now
they had split paint following the line of the doors rear was
dark blue and top of truck cab, front was yellow. with large
yellow NCB lettering starting on the door and finishing near the
       rear wheel
he was saying they were not allowed to buy fuel NCB had their
own blue marked fuel so if they had a motorway journey or any
distance to travel they had to put a 45 gallon drum in the back
and fill it with fuel usually he said about half way up the drum
to make sure they could get back.
H/S wouldnt allow that sort of practice now i dont think
