Old v5
By: Willcox Date: January 19, 2015, 1:34 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
So my landy has come with a old v5 as it has been of the road
for over 25 years, as I've never dealt with the older style, I'm
not quite sure what to do, I filled out the bottom bit ands as
told he would send it off, I got given the top half to keep, my
main question is do I have to do anything or will I get sent the
new type as I read they no longer except the old style, any info
or personal experiences would be great
Regards
Matt

I bought a series last year or the year before with an old type
V5 from that era, the new red one came back from the
DVLArseholes without any drama. With the old type you should
fill your details in on the top part and send it off yourself.
Keep the bottom slip. The old keeper does nothing, and keeps
nothing with that type of V5.

Ah right, that's a bit annoying then as I've not got the bottom
bit because they kept it, I'll just have to send the top half
off and see what happens, cheers for the help

Doesn't the top half say ''sending this bit won't generate a log
book'' or something (as I seem to recall) ..
..best to ask the guy for the other part if poss...I assume we
are talking about the old pink logbook type here?

I did this 7 years ago with a 1 owner 1989 Sierra Sapphire.
So... I'm still waiting for mine, and even though I taxed it
when I used it, they still deny that I even handed the form
over.. and my trump card, is that how did the Post Office bod
know the code letter for the registration? They can't answer
that. Apparently I still have to hand over cash, even though it
went "missing" between the Post Office and Doovla. Well they can
bollocks.

filling out the back

I've taken photos of it all and will try and ring them tomorrow
and find where to send it as the old v5 says sa99 1ar and new
v5s say sa99 1ba, as I don't want them loosing it

The dozy cunts will lose it if they are going to anyway, so good
plan to keep a copy
... though I'm sure they'd pedantically refuse to accept a copy
even if THEY lost the original :wanker:
anywaze, seriously, good luck with all that mate, be interesting
to hear how it pans out.

I had an old v5 for my tractor from the early 80's. I scanned it
all before I sent it off which was just as well as the dvla
couldn't give me a new v5 as they claimed that they needed two
parts of the v5 and they had only received one - they said the
new keeper had to send in one part along with the old keeper
another part.
Anyway I could prove they were wrong as I hadn't torn off the
separate part, I'd left the form intact so they had to have
received both bits as they acknowledged receiving one part so
they must've received the other.
After sending in the scan of the original I did get a new v5
eventually.
I then corrected it and sent it back - it has been registered as
heavy oil but is and always has been petrol (original engine)
and didn't have an engine number, and now I have to get it
inspected by a club, should've kept my mouth shut!
