buggers... 200tdied trashed series ... go for it?

owner placed recent add that wants it gone for 1500 on facebook.
i am tempted though not sure. its got a 200 off a disocvery.
problematic 2a gearbox. leaking and poor job i guess lot of
instant gasket so it was rebuilt.. detent springs/holders for
the 3/4 are missing...
axles off a swb of course..
front wing one good other battered... is it worthed engine wise?
.... engine looks smart and not smokey at all on start up. and
over revving while cold that is. ....
doh.. stupid me :(

if you're just after a 200tdi engine i'd be looking for a rotten
disco (if they appear where you are)
but if you're looking at buying this one to use as it is, his
price is only a starting point for haggling and the "broken"
gearbox is a good haggling point in your favour (not to mention
any other faults you may find)
the final value would be at what you're prepared to pay for it
and how much it'll cost you to fix any faults
are they a common vehicle where you live ??
