       hi all,
anybody knows a source for these clamps holding the military
       headlamp rim together?
       They are 6 in all.
Made of ally cast and chewing gum like afzer all those years, so
I killed them all while dismantling the rims.... SH><.

I am slightly pissed to say the least.... :smiley-furious:
I can't find them anywhere, nor do I know of a part number......
       :gay:
There are not enough bad smilys on here.... need more! :finger:
Anyway, if somebody knows a source or has a set going spare,
       please get in touch.
       regards

I doubt if you'll find a part number, you have to buy a whole
       new assembly :2mo5pow:
Of course there may be ways around the problem.
Shank nuts, rivnuts, or maybe get the right shape slugs turned
from a bar of soft aluminium, peen them over like a solid
rivet, and then drill and tap.

part number apparently is 554454 and they are sold at Blanchards
at 19.95 individually plus VAT of course.... :WTF
I'd rather have them recast in hundreds for that sum of single
items.... anyway. I shall not complain.
We did not win the war, so pete at Blanchards probably is right
in selling british military stuff at whatever he feels like...

I will have a look into making them as you suggested. Will come
up with a solution - one way or the other. :executioner:

Where are you ? I have a lathe and milling machine in my
workshop. All we need is a pattern to work from.

That is OK we always have the postal system. See how you get on
       finding them first.

Years ago I had a similar problem. I was recommended to try a
chap in Leeds who does everything ex military from a water
bottle to a scout car, sure enough he had some in stock complete
units at that. Can't remember the cost, but it was a bloody
sight cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
I'm not even sure that the place is still open, but if it is
       it's worth a try.

divie - thanks - will get in touch if nothing else can be found
(which I doubt - must be some left somewhere)
pete - can you remember some more details? I can't look "chap in
Leeds" up in google.... :lousyputer: :smilewide:
       thanks guys!

Place was in Stourton (spelling?) behind a container yard
near the big GPO depot. It's not too far from me, I keep saying
I will take a look, but never get round to it.
