       What caused the melt down?
Recently as I got in mine to take it for MOT, there appeared to
be a wire sticking out from behind the dash. Strange I thought,
so I touched the "wire" and it moved.
Then the snout and whiskers of a mouse appeared poking out from
the other side of the binical.
I now have a tray of mouse poison on the shelf.

       now fixed :smilewide:
burnt wires cut out and replaced - soldered and heat shrink on
       the connections :toothless:
complete new harness and fuse box made for all the 'non
       landrover' accesories :-?
all wires that have any possibility of rubbing through have been
       run through plastic armoured sleeves
the cause :-? - the fuel cut off solenoid wire had rubbed
       through :smiley-furious:
now in armoured plastic sleeve - not going to happen again
       :toothless:

Just out of interest, what fusebox did you use and where did you
mount it? As I'm thinking of doing something similar myself
shortly, as I'm sick of the electrical gremlins as present.

I used one of the fuseboxes that bolt on bits (Bradford and
       Ebay) sell.
Used to fit halogen headlights and other heavy current stuff.
They do a variety of them, and some even have LED tell tales, so
you can see at a glance if all the fuses are healthy.
       Good stuff and not expensive.
