Good morning guys, long time no see, after selling my series a
while ago, buying a house, changing job and the sudden death of
my dad i would love to own a series again. I regret selling all
of mine but i have been looking about and the prices seem to be
a joke! all i want is no mot etc that i can make roadworthy for
the fun of it, probably a lwb, engine does nt matter as i have
to use a normal car daily for my commute.
Im not paying shit loads for a scrapyard wreck though! :WTF

I posted a thread asking for help with finding a pre 1969 Series
       around 6 months ago.
I've noticed prices going up even since then! Think I should
have acted sooner, but life has got in the way and we've gone
and spent all our money on a house.
I've left a small war chest aside for the 1 owner Series 1 from
a country estate that I am going to find, eventually!!

Im talking about a 500 odd quid no mot job that i can play
with.............but they are all going for much more than that,
so much for the days of a cheap classic! i can rebuild it no
problems but i dont want something thats got no parts left as it
will cost more to collect the parts! so a no mot job thats not
       been stripped would be good!
What really gets me is the 20-30k rebuilt ones i ve seen, :WTF
that goes against everything land rovers are.......when are they
ever going to be used??? :2mo5pow:

You might still find a late S3 for that money if you don't mind
       welding it up

Prices just seem to be getting set as 'what people are prepared
to pay' the 20-30k ones whilst look 'pretty' and yes I would
love one as I'm a TarT would in reality be of no use as it
would then never go out and play for fear of scratching /
       damaging
The cheaper end however do seem to be a bag of dross unless you
know the person where its coming from :(

The one in a recent CLR magazine is on autotrader at £50,000. I
       am shocked.

You will still get a running drivable series three for around
£500 if you're prepared to scour sites like pre loved and
       gumtree.
Free ads papers are another fertile source of bargain beaters.
Don't try and drive it too far, though, in case the chassis
       breaks in half.
Basically the dirtier you are prepared to get your hands the
       bigger bargain you will get.
But be prepared to face some real bodged up horrors, and that
description could equally well apply to some of the sellers too.

It's over 3 years since I last bought a Land Rover so I've no
idea about prices. Out of interest, what would you expect to pay
for an 88" Series 2a, running and with MOT but scruffy?
