I ran a series 2a with a 3.5 V8 on SU carbs, RR diffs and 750s
and got at least 20mpg, usually around 22 or 23. But I couldn't
be arsed to check most of the time. The only people who really
whinge about V8s drinking loads of fuel are those who don't own
one.

^^^What they said. FWIW my "monster Range Rover with autobox
and power everything" gets better open road mileage out of its
V8 than my 2.25 109 can achieve (subject to the usual arguments
about aerodynamics / weight / transmissions / tyres etc.)
The biggest problem I'd have with a V8'ed Series would be my
right foot and the small fuel tank!

I'm amazed at how little I'm in the petrol station , haven't
checked the mpg I'm not into that just drive and enjoy her,
I used to have a 4.2 truck cab Boingy and that was as good
,think it's down to all the power ,torque and no weight

Very nice - quite amazing how this colour looks on a
short-wheelbase S1. A fan of SI V8's myself - hope to finish
ours before next Spring. 4.6 RV8 with quad SU manifold
