I have only seen anything like that once before, that was a
home made trailer made for use on very soft ground. Tracks were
       used to spread weight.

The track cleats look very like those used on Snow Trac's
Used to be several about on Alston Moor 9and still the odd one
       tucked away up there

Looking at the use of angle ring makes me think maybe not home
       made.
Of course the builder might just have had a piece left over from
       a different job.

Looks like a frankenstien of a few different things....a place I
worked we had a massive trailer made out of the back of a lorry
cut in half ( diffs still in place ) with a tub made out of a
tanker container with the top cut off so you could bung stuff in
       it :toothless:

It's a bog trotter, used to move peat off the bogs for burning
       or bagging.

Bombardier J5 Tracks and wheels ? - some J5s have the tracks
protected at the side like that too, with an 'I' section steel
       frame, but longer.
