Get yourself a spare set and then get them hot dip galvanised.
No doubt the first attempt will be absolutely shite and the
things will need doing again.
Fall out with your galvanisers, loose the door trims ( cos the
cunts won't give them you back)
Get another spare set, and with your expanded knowledge, get
the fuckers hand dipped properly.
The road to true leader enlightenment is not an easy one.
But ultimately priceless 8)

Wedge galvanising did mine, did a fine job.
Don't have them blasted the finish will be to rough, wedge
removed the old galvanising before re galvanising.
Cost about £60 two years ago up to 100kg, maybe there are others
in your area who have small jobs needing galvanising, club
together and chip in? Where are you?
Look up my big gay hybrid thread in members motors for photos of
all I had galvanised.

Another vote for hot dipping them here. Nothing else looks
right, and in my book leaving them rusty is better than spraying
with anything else.

None of the sprays really look like hot dip galv, so if you want
the right looks you'll have to galv them,
If you want to protect it, the spray will be fine

Apparently Brick Acid will remove the zinc layer if you need to.
Never tried it yet so I can't say how long it takes.

Yep, I removed the galv from some steel plates for welding (not
LR) - they were going to be hot dipped again so it was easiest
to remove it all rather than grind it off.
B&Q brick cleaner in a plastic washing up bowl took around 20
minutes to remove all the galv!
Best to do it outside and to neutralise afterwards with a wash
of bicarb of soda in water.

Brick acid does the job fine but if they are being re dipped why
not save yourself the hassle of finding a bath big enough for
cappings to sit in and the expense of buying brick acid?
Also puts the responsibility for the surface preparation in the
galvanisers hands.
