Dalek - 1974 Series III, 2.25 petrol SWB
By: rambler Date: October 9, 2014, 11:58 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
As promised here are some photos of the landy I bought over the
summer and have since been laying under or working on.
Recently christened 'Dalek' 8)

Then, as if one was not enough, I managed to find myself buying
an older sibling last week - a series II from 1961.

This one's a work in progress, yet to arrive - but has a great
galvanized frame (ok, it's bent out of shape at the back, but
otherwise looking good), and partially paint stripped thanks to
the PO's soda blaster.

Thanks. I was thinking to put back the series iii to 'normal'
with steel painted wheels, loss of the plastic and checker
plate. Will see how it works out...

would be the right descision, put wider rims and 235 85R16
wheels on it, get rid of the other mentioned things and it would
be a very nice SIII with North American specification ...
:giddy:

At the risk of being flamed, are those alloys fitted to standard
series hubs with drum brakes? Always thought they wouldn't work?
Thanks Mud

The guy I bought it from fitted spacers (bought from some 4x4
place in the uk, whose name I believe is mud :rolleye0012:
. I was planning to take them off and replace with steel wheels
at some point, but still looking for some affordable 16in wheels
(nearly all 15 ins Canada). Will take some photos of the set up
when I pull the discovery alloys to inspect my brakes.
