Dumb heater question

Which way does the coolant flow in my heater circuit ???
Engine is a standard 2A diesel.
I'm assuming front of head through matrix to rear of head, but
I'm not 100% sure.
This matters to me because I've got two heaters fitted now.
The original square Smiths is on heating and demisting duty,
the auxiliary series three on heating only.
So I want the hot water to go through the square heater first
for maximum demisting effect.

If you mean which way from the engine block it goes from the tap
to the heater. Logic then says to the uppermost heater inlet,
give the heater matrix a really good flush through transforms
heater performance.

I'm going to be running TWO heaters.
The standard square Smiths jobby as originally fitted to my late
IIA and also a modified series three unit blowing straight
through a hole in the upper footwell.
The heaters will be plumbed in series.
So the flow will be out of engine, into first heater, out of
first heater into second heater, then out of second heater and
back to engine.
The square Smiths unit feeds the demisters, so I want it to get
the hot coolant that has just come out of the engine first.
The coolant will then exit the square heater at a lower
temperature and enter the series three jobby.
It will leave that even cooler and then go back into the engine.
I just wanted to know which direction the coolant flows in.

Looks like a trial and error job running it with the pipe of to
be sure.

I've got a digital infra red thermometer lurking somewhere.
Looking at the main radiator which way does the coolant flow
anyway ???

demisting is more to do with air flow than heat :-?
i would worry more about getting the fan right first

Digressing somewhat, the last euro box that I had on the road
was a Citroën AX diesel.
The good one (1.5 engine)
Heater output was pretty good and pretty quick, blowing warm
after about a mile and a half.
But in extreme cold (ie below about -8ºC) the screen would start
to freeze back up
I put this down to the extremely long shallow sloped screen.
About 22" of glass to keep warm IIRC, and the heater just
couldn't do it.
Ice would spread from the top of the screen and head down as you
were driving.
Ended up crouched down peering through a little gap at the
bottom of the screen.
Just like a Land Rover really.
At least with the Land Rover you can open the vent flaps and
drive home squinting through them.
Just make sure Plod isn't watching and beware of frostbite

Pretty sure it flows top to bottom of the main rad, which is why
the top rad hose is connected to the thermostat.
My guess is that the heat flows from the pipe leaving the front
of the head for the heater as well, it's taken from before the
thermostat so you always get hot(ish) air
