       Rubber door seals again

Does anyone ever reuse the metal strips that Land Rover used in
the original door seal rubbers ???
Traditionally I've just slung them away and then stuck new
pattern seal on with contact adhesive and wide flange pop
       rivets.
Looking at the bag of pattern seal that I've just dug out,
there is a slot moulded into it for the metal strip.
Would I actually gain anything in terms of fit or draught
proofing, or would it just turn into mission fucking impossible
       ???

I re drilled mine and attached them with small nuts and bolts ,
tightening them until only just tight so not to cause the seal
to ripple. No draughts at all on drivers side, passengers side
has a slight draught but that's down to a poor fitting door.
