Lift pump rebuild?

My lift pump MIGHT just be sucking air as well as diesel.
Still investigating but ran out of time yesterday.
I've seen recon kits for sale somewhere.
I don't want to waste my time and money with junk quality stuff.
If I can get a decent quality kit I'll rebuild it, otherwise it
looks like a new lift pump but not one in a blue box.
Advice on what to go for please.
I'm traditionally unlucky with lift pumps and fuel lines, and I
don't want to tempt fate.

Possibly not much help but I have always wondered if you could
replace the lift pump with an electric pump and whether it would
be more reliable?

Nothing wrong with the mechanical pumps reliability wise, If
you've got an original AC pump, rebuild it, The new replacement
pumps are pretty crappy in comparison.

Not started looking yet, I've got plenty to get on with while
the weather holds out.
Does look like the genuine item down there.
Any chance of finding a genuine AC rebuild kit out there, or am
I going to be down to the usual Allmakes/Britpart shite ?
I don't mind using some of their stuff around the vehicle.
But not for something that can stop me dead.

Genuine shown as well as pattern, £9.24 for the real deal. Just
strip yours first and check the brass rod has the same type of
slot in it as shown, some older ones are different.

Noel, I had that problem with those kits, they just were not
right at all for the AC pump, totally different diaphragm and
mounting gasket.
I did a rebuild a few years back on the old OLLR, Fentiger
kindly brought the thread over to this forum, but missed copying
the part replacing the one-way valves.

Search ebay for old stock parts, just make sure they're a match
for the model of pump you've got.

Right now.
I've managed to determine that the pump is the genuine series
three OE item, not a pattern jobby.
LR Direct shows genuine LR repair kits (as stated above) @ £9.24
+ VAT. part number AEU2760.
Can't think of much that can go wrong really, unless anyone
knows different ???

I know different. Check your diaphragm before you order it,

I've only ever seen the left type in the AC pump used on a
landrover. The red one that came in the OMG! GENUINE LANDROVER
AU2760 rebuild kit was totally wrong for an AC pump, the shaft
was wrong as you can see, and the brass disk was too big to even
let the Diaphragm fit in the housing.

^^^ that's what I found on the AC pump I stripped too FJ, hence
my post about checking the rod.

Yes I had read your posts, but I assumed that the problems were
with earlier AC lift pumps, as fitted to series 2 and 2A.
I assumed that with a series three pump all would be OK.
And I think we should all know by now, that assumption is the
mother of all fuck ups :banghead
Right!
Fuck that for a game of soldiers.
How about a new lift pump instead.
LR Direct are listing four types (all 563146) from £9.86 to
£14.17.
The usual suspects.
Allmakes
Britpart
Bearmach
OEM from Britpart
Any recommendations please?
