Hello from High Wycombe. Just got back into the LR world after a
9 year break by buying a '62 IIA 88, half for useful stuff like
taking shit up the tip, and half just to have something else to
play with.
Had a '70 IIA 88 previously, just getting back into the swing of
stinking of gear oil and thinking of buying shares in BP.

I had to look it up, only been here couple of years so I'm not
down with local folklore or whatever yet ;D
It's still there.

It's quite some shade of green. Axles and quite a bit of the
underside are that green as well, the PO must have got a job
lot.
Not sure of much history, I bought it in May off a dealer who I
guess flipped it for a profit, I've got 11 years of MOTs that
say it went less than 350 miles since 2003.
Dunno if it's really the same vehicle the V5 says or just
something like it made up of a pile of bits someone scraped
together, but it's close enough for practical purposes and
pretty tidy with it.
Some later recon engine fitted at the moment, gearbox is pretty
clonky and the fuel tank is full of rust and weeping a bit
around the seams. Overdrive is good though.
Brakes are shit but it stops in a straight line so I'll probably
just suck up the extra leg exercise for now.
Pulled the rear propshaft last weekend and found less than no
preload on the diff nose bearings which probably explains the
vibrations.
Otherwise not a bad wagon, but it cost a fortune to buy compared
to the later S2A I bought in 2003 with 12 months MOT and a
complete Mayflower winch in the back with PTO and driveshafts
for 750 quid all in and sold 2 years later for not much more.
Times are a changin'.
Wondering if I ought to buy another one as a nail now so I can
take this one off the road and sort it out...

Good old High Wycombe, I worked there on and off for over 10
years (at Carousel Buses). Pretty much all of the detail stuff
on that looks spot on for a '62, I wouldn't say it's a bitsa.
The engine is later as you say, and the radiator is the same era
as the engine. That's not unusual, the earlier '66 and before 5
core rads are expensive to recore (I got stung £175 for the last
one I had done and that was mates rates) so it's no surprise the
later 3 core '67-on rads appear in earlier motors.
The green is bright to say the least! Forgive me, I am a bit of
a numberplate anorak, however it's worth saying how nice it is
to see a '62 that hasn't been plate-raped and has the proper
plates on it. Even though some people now offer the pre-63
pressed plates with the correct 3 1/2" high characters I've not
found anyone (yet) that has the 1 die with the tab at the top.
Really nice.
