G'day matey, i have the high ratio series transfer box with the
conversion adapter for the BW66 but for what ever reason that i
won't go into the box was stripped just to see how it worked and
not by me i might say the contents of the box were just thrown
away just because the brake bands were worn/burntout after the
88 rolled at a RTV then drove off before the oil could settle
:banghead.
I can't say it is for sale because i would like to fit it myself
but one never knows because i am very slow at what i do
something like taking a petrol motor out and fitting a diesel
that i have might be a way of a purchase maybe in the future
:-?.
Catch you later. R-Rose .

On my wish list for the new year.
It might take a couple of years to scrape all the necessary
parts together, but the way I'm looking at it, it's the only
option which gives a truly robust transmission with an EFI V8 in
a SWB leafer.
Now how many horses does a 4.6 V8 put out?

4.6 pushes out 225 horses, but it will be a ballache to use as
the ECU interfaces with the body and gearbox ECU's in the
vehicle it is fitted in. It can be run standalone, but you'd be
looking at your own fuel injection and ignition system - kits
for which are available. An earlier 3.5 or 3.9 is easier.
What about the TF727 3 speed transmission from the early RR
auto? It should bolt directly to the V8 and also used an LT230.
Does this mean an Ashcroft adaptor for an LT77/R380 to series
xfer box (instead of 230) could be modified to suit the auto?
Not sure how the length would pan out though.

Thanks for the info about the 4.6 Doug
It puts the 4.6 off my shopping list.
Pity really 'cos they're available at giveaway prices.
Gotta go with something that's just "plug in and play" or the
whole exercise becomes uneconomical.
3.9 would be perfectly adequate in any leafer I think.
Let's face it, if you used all the available performance on the
highway in a 88, you would soon end up dead or crippled at
least.
I'd just like to have an overkill amount of grunt on tap, all
the time.
