       S3 Blower Question
   DIR By: ferretjuggler

Found another S3 heater blower unit while searching for
       something else.
I knew that I had one somewhere.
This one differs from the other one in having a little steel box
bolted onto the side of it.
       About 80mm x 40mm x 30mm.
There's a braided lead coming out of the box and into the blower
       motor.
Also a green wire which goes nowhere, and a white wire which is
       earthed to the blower case.
Inside the blower case there is no balast resistor.
On the blower motor the two lucar spade terminals are visible.
       So what have I got?
       Military?
       24 volt?
There's no markings or labels on it
       FFR?

       Got a photo?
The 2 speed motor has a cylindrical resistor on the side, with
two green wires (different coloured traders I can't remember)
and a wire from it into the motor

I've actually managed to master photo bucket.
I'll try to sort out a photo tomorrow.
What you're describing sounds like the standard two speed blower
with the resistor inside in the airflow.

Te one I've got hasn't got the resistor inside, its outside,
attached to the case next to the motor

       Thank you!
My IT skills are totally lamentable I'm sad to say.
Worst of all, when I do manage to learn something properly, I
only forget it in a few weeks.
       Yes that is the beasty.
I'm beginning to wonder if the box is something to do with radio
       interference suppression?

       :-?
       Thanks for that.
       You've got me stumped now.
The only 24v FFR trucks I've owned have been lightweights with
       the flat heater.
So can I persuade this item to run off 12v ?
