Sankey axle specs?

Hi all,
I'm looking to turn this hefty metal cradle into a trailer:

Overall weight is 2 tons and the outside width of the frame
longitudinals is 1465mm.
As Indespension is stupidly expensive, my idea is to use a pair
of Sankey axles under the centre of gravity.
Please can someone tell me the width from spring mount to spring
mount of a wide-track axle tube? Also, what is the overall
weight rating of a single axle? Do they use standard LR leaf
springs or are they special trailer springs? I take it the
brakes are cable operated?
thanks,
Matthew
