Grinding gears

Am I in big trouble!?
Just got on the road after a rebuild only to find the gearbox is
not up to much.
On going from 4th to 3rd slowing down, there is and awful
crunching and grinding / resistance before engaging gear. What
could be up and is it an easy / common fix?

Have you tried double de clutching? sounds like the synchro has
gone to me.

What series and what suffix gearbox.
Could also be clutch dragging ie not fully disengaging.

try double de clutching - even with syncro its better

I always double declutch in everything I drive. Something to do
with learning on a prewar Swift car with no synchro. I find
series boxes are much better to use with double jobbie, a light
hand, blip the throttle and don't rush ! :rolleye0012:

Late series 3.
I did fear the synchro! I haven't tried double clutch yet but
will do. Maybe it could help get a bit more life out of it?

Even though the clutch is in good condition, the biting point is
rather high. Could this point towards an easier fix?

Read somwhere that you should pause momentarily between gears ie
take it out of gear pause then into next gear

Is this just to let the box slow done to around tick over speed?
Allowing a good change without the crunch

Iveread about being slow and steady but ive never had a Problem
with racing changes in pheebs or even JJ when he was alive
