       Eight Merlins
By: clunk Date: August 17, 2014, 2:52 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I live near Old Warden the home of the Shuttleworth Air Museum.
Holding their Air Show this weekend.
7pm last night the two remaining Avro Lancasters came over at
more or less rooftop level. The Canadian Warplane Heritage
       Museum’s ‘V-RA’ & The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's
[PA-474] KC-A. Gut wrenching heart pounding eye
       watering stuff.
Tomorrow they are flying from RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire where
they are garaged to overfly Woburn Abbey at about 1640
accompanied by a Hurricane and a Spitfire. (There is the
International Tiger Moth Rally and a Veteran/Classic car show
       there this weekend).
The two Lancs are on display, when not flying, at the BBMF
hangar at RAF Coningsby until the middle of September.

Lozza and me were at Coningsby last Wednesday. and got TWO free
shows. I've put a link on to my album on fb, 'cos I can't be
arsed wasting an hour of my life with photofuckit. They're all
in hi-res, so if anybody wishes to copy, they're welcome. ;D

I'm sorry to dis-abuse you Andy, but there are only nine Merlins
and one Griffon in the film. The clipped wing Spitfire (TE311)
is a Mk. XVI with a Packard built Merlin 66. The blue Spitfire
       (PS911) however, is a PR (photo-reconnaissance) Mk.XIX, which
has a Rolls-Royce Griffon fitted, which is a completely
different (and a damn sight bigger!) engine than a Merlin.
       (Anorak off) ;D
