fuel vapourising

I think my petrol is vapourising in the fuel line as she's a
pain to start when warm or hot but leaving her to cool for 30/40
mins and she is fine..
So has anyone got a heat shield fitted above the engine and
below the fuel line, what's it made from and how's it fitted?
Cheers

Coil should be fine it's done less than 500 miles , but a new
one is going on tomorrow to be on the safe side.

When I first bought FMW some 14 years ago I had exactly the same
thing and it got a tad embarassing. I'd suggest it's more likely
down to a weak spark rather than anything else, this modern fuel
is not without it's issues so you want it to be the best it can.
I fitted new plugs, leads and a coil but the thing that made the
most difference was Lumenition optronic. This was before the
electronic dizzies from the likes of SimonBBC were available.
Cured it instantly.
If you're running a points set up I can't recommend highly
enough chucking it in the bin and going electronic. I'm running
a couple of the SimonBBC dizzies on other motors and they're
great. Magnetic triggers may not be quite as precise as optical
but they do seem better in water. Depending on budget he does
kits of matched coil+dizzy, it wouldn't be a bad way to go. As
for spark plugs I prefer the Bosch 4 pronged type as there is no
gap to set and the spark can go one of 4 ways. If memory serves
they are WR78/WR78X and are on eBlag from Euro Car Parts at £12
for a set of 4 including postage.

On a particularly hot day and after a long drive, mine has been
known to evaporate off all the fuel in the line once the engine
has been turned off. after 40 mins or so with the bonnet up she
will go.
The lesson being - be sure you are happy with where you have
parked before you turn it off!
And if you are still on the road, don't stall at the lights!
(not from personal experience, thank god)

Coil swapped.. same problem.
Turns over ok then after a couple of goes gets slow to turn
over. Once temp drops below 50c it will start no problem.
Argh.
Lets hope the insulation turns up and stops the initial
vapourisation so will fire straight away when hot.

I had a problem with full vaporising on my Series One and fitted
a home built shield between the carb and the engine as my pipes
run round the outside of the engine bay and it cured my hot
starting problem.
If you dump the points and such and get electronic ignition
remember that if the electronic box of gubbins fails roadside it
can't be mended roadside. Points and such can be replaced or
reset.
Ask me how I know this. Go on ask
