Thanks Doug, I think the mk1 choc/cream are right for the King
class after doing a bit of research so I think I will start
       there.
Have been having a look on RMweb and found some interesting
stuff but it is a bit intense for a noob!

Stuary, mk1's would do for both if they are BR livery. You must
be looking in wrong bit of rmweb if its intense. Try the
       beginners bit :)

Plenty stuff available in Mk1s in all liveries. Bachmann are
probably the best, and priciest, followed by Lima then
Hornby/Triang. The older Hornby/Triang ones tend to go for not
much. They are okay although the very earlier oneshave no
       internal seating.
If you head up to Gateshead Toy Fair on the 17th you should be
able to pick up good used ones of whatever type you can afford
for probably less than you'll pay anywhere else!

Stick with Bachmann....... much nicer and more for your money in
       my opinion anyhow :)

I managed to get a few bits and pieces in quick succession so I
think I had better leave it at that for a few weeks... there are
only so many hobbies she will put up with at one time!
