Got me the West Coast Highlander set :)
£65 reduced to £50 and I had a 15% off voucher so £42. Bargain.
Comes with track pack A and the money I saved getting that set
up can be put towards a nicer loco at Shildon on Sunday :)
And I can pack it all away nicely in the box between playtimes
(keep the household happy...)

Eh up mate, didn't know you were into trains......if there's owt
you want help with give me a shout, I've been railway modelling
most of my life mostly in 0 gauge but also a bit in 4mm scale.
I've got loads of contacts, the best place to get stuff cheap is
at exhibitions and swapmeets. Also worth looking at RMweb (just
google it) there's loads of inspirational stuff on there. Also
have a look at vectis.co.uk they have regular model railway
sales and they're just along the road from you near Ingleby
Barwick. Finally there is Peters Spares, a nice shop in
Middlesborough (easy found on google)
Hope this helps

The main swapmeet - now generally just called Toy Fairs - in the
North East is at Gateshead Stadium. Next one is saturday 17th
September. Well worth a look - at least 100 stalls and at least
half of it is trains - mostly second hand.

Here's a neat one I picked up recently. A 1930s Sentinel ex-LMS,
but 47183 in BR service No idea who made it - looks kit built
with a wee Tenshodo motor.

That's a lovely little loco Graeme, just my kind of thing,
small, scruffy (ish), industrial types

Was at Shildon museum on Sunday and treated myself to a Hornby
King class "King Edward II".
Bloody love it. Very nice engine. Number 118 of 1000 special
edition.

Anyway we were there with our lasses old man and when we got
back he gifted her with one from his collection.
A Bachmann Standard class 5mt 73068. Happy days 8)

To pick your brains a bit more... What would be the correct
carriages to go with these engines? The King is Western and the
Standard ran on the Southern. Coaches should really be 40s era
but haven't a clue which are correct.

I'm guessing the Southern would be running Maunsell stock and
the Western would be running Hawksworth. However if you go onto
RMWeb there will be someone who can give you a definite answer.
Of course they are both post 1948 so some got messed up a bit,
you might get away with with very early BR Mk1 rolling stock,
I'm no expert of what ran with what, I just like trains and
watching them go by......
