Finally Got a Mamod

I have been fancying on for months but ebay prices were putting
me off when you can't be sure what you are getting.
I was at the Nostalgia weekend at Croft and there was a stall
where the bloke had 3 of them all lined up.
The first was very pricey but had only been fired once or twice,
the second was a bit cheaper, all there but not as tidy, and the
third was missing a few bits and a bit scruffy. That was the one
for me.
Straight away ordered the relief valve, level plug and a few
other bits and pieces. Spent a couple of hours off work on
Monday with the brasso and polishing wheel, getting her looking
something like.
The bits I was waiting for came in yesterdays post, So last
night I got her fired up.
Runs very well considering it will have been in a loft somewhere
for years, I presume. Early 70s I think based on the level plug
instead of a sight glass.
Anyway here is a vid.

I've got one of those somewhere. It belonged to my grandad. I've
steamed it but never run it because the drive belt is missing.

^^^ Me too, I had one in the 70's, rescued it from my old Dad's
shed the other week. - Dunno if it'll run though.
The mesh in the meths bath has rusted away for one thing.
I might TDI it. :-?

Dave - you can get a drive belt off of t' bay for a couple of
quid.
Kev - you can get replacement burners for a 5-10 quid depending.
If you manage the tdi then you must post up a video. Might be
better with a di, not sure there is room for the turbo.
No excuses folks

Mamod operate out of a small lock up somewhere in the midlands,

I'm starting to feel the need for a mamod especially if I could
make it look like this
HTML http://steammods.com/te1mod.html
Or this even

Now where's my meccano set gone?

I've got a few of these that I've had since childhood, in
adulthood the noble sport of drunken Mamod racing has much merit

Gosh that is spooky, Iv'e just got mine off the shelf to see if
it will run for the Grandchildren. Timing or what ?
I found a steam powered toy boat that I ran up for them and then
got the Mamod down. Now here I am looking at Stuart's up and
running.
I will have to google Mamod but I think they may still be in
Burntwood a few miles from me, been 30 years since mine ran so
bound to need a few bits.
