Wiring Query

I'm currently rewiring the auxiliary switch panel, running
everything through a new durite fuse box mounted on the
bulkhead.. (11 amp thin wall trailer wire to the fusebox will
look lovely and neat when done)
So does anyone know what the maximum amp draw on the one
switched live feed would be? (Green) - I presume its normally
only used for reverse lights and rear fog lights? but it appears
to have been used to power the front fogs locker lights, blue
lights and two tones (via a relay) on Pheebs..
I have also found one feed that's permanently live (purple)
behind there only going as far as the ciggy socket. Ideally Id
like everything to go off when the engine isn't running but I
figure it would be too much for that one feed.. (I know im
unlikely to have everything on at once but id still like to be
safe(r)
Would it be easy to put another switchable live in? - I've
looked at the wiring diagram - but I don't understand them all
that well - wire colours don't seem to match and I've got shit
for brains etc.. Where would I tap in to it? is it in the
ignition or elsewhere?
Anything is an improvement on this..

The wiper motor is on one of those switched lives, and is I
believe 17amps of its own
I thought ciggy sockets were only 5amp or so ?
The standard set up uses several switched lives of 2 fuses in
the normal fuse box,
If your intending to feed everything from a switched live in the
centre of the dash I think you need something much higher rated
than 11 amp
Re-reading, I may have got the wrong end of the stick - are you
just feeding the extras that live there?

I'm using 11 amp multicore for each individual function. (Blues,
two tones, reverse lights, fog light x 2 & locker lights.
I have it set up so that each switch goes to a blade fuse in a
durite box and then to its relevant function.. the amperage of
the cable for that is all fine and dandy..
Its where I get the live into the switches im bothered about as
I only have the one switched live and one that's permanently
live, (don't really want to use this if I can avoid it) so
either the switched one runs them all (if anyone knows what the
amperage of that one would be) or I need to put another power
supply in somehow?

So, to check I'm understanding correctly,
Your taking a power supply, preferably switched. Feeding that to
several switches, and each switch then has a fuse on the way to
its function?
I'd be running a new switched live supply in from the fuse box
(fused side) to your new fuse box, then run from each fuse in
that box to its respective switch then accessory
You'll need to add up all the proper requirements, but if in
doubt I'd run it from the 17amp fuse, with 20amp cable
Worst case then you fuse the whole lot not melt anything

Easiest solution is to put a relay in which is powered when
ignition on to feed your extra circuits.

Well said that man!
Seriously (excuse the pun) its not worth taking a stab at
electrics and hoping everything will be OK.
Worth getting an auto electrician to check everything over if
you're not 100% confident about it.
Better than a burnt out vehicle.

In happy with doing it and havebt had anybfiresbin any if the
vehicles I've done stuff with in the last god knows how many
years. I was just wondering how to put another switched live
in..
Think the relay idea is the simplest, run a decent feed off the
battery and then use the existing switching live to switch the
relay.. cheers.

What they said about relays is sound. I never fit anything
without one, cheap and simple solution. I have got my main and
dip through a relay to save melting yet another multifunction
switch. Relays on spots, heated screens etc.

Are any of you actually paying for your relays?
I just pull them off german cars at my local scrappy.
Better quality than the ones your local motor factor stocks.
