Rivet Sets

Rivet Sets, Rivet Snaps.
Whatever you call them, it's time that I got around to
investing in some. .
Too many little jobs around the vehicle that need proper round
head rivets.
Pop Rivets just look wrong and aren't very strong.
So I'm looking on EBay
3/16" Snaps seem to start at around £9 and are allegedly made
from tool steel.
Will these be any good at that sort of price, or are they just
cheap shit that won't last five minutes?
I've honestly no experience of these things whatsoever, and I'm
on a learning curve here.

I've had some very decent panels and brackets from bits4landys
on ebay. They do 3/16 rivet sets made by Smith Francis
'Priory' brand in Birmingham. They also do the rivets, not
rivetted myself but if they as good as their other stuff should
be ok,

Rather Generic I'm afraid, but for things like that I
wholeheartedly believe its worth going in to the local
tool/hardware shop and paying the over the counter premium to
get exactly what you want. Alas that may not be possible so

Model engineering suppliers are a good source of old fashioned
tools, because they are still desirable in that market. If you
asked for rivet snaps in a Cromwells they would give you a funny
look and show you a pop riveter ::)

FFS I never realised how much there was to the humble rivet.
Just makes me wonder how many people have built their entire
careers just designing and developing rivets.
More research required on my part I think.
Seems to be a load of stuff on You Tube about using rivet snaps.
If I can get this poxy phone to play them that is.

dolly
