Rewiring a Series 2a

Looking at the spaghetti of wires running to the lights,
indicators etc on my Series 2A I've decided the best thing to do
is to rewire them. Also some of them got cut when I stripped the
front down to do some welding :rolleye0012:
I reckon trailer cable is good option and I've found some 7 core
11amp stuff that looks just the job. The thing is, is 11amp good
enough for headlights? I'm worried that the headlights might
draw too much and melt the cable!
Anyone know what how many amps a standard headlight pulls on
high beam?

Watts / Volts = Amps
I tend to round a little to be on the safe size too..

Right, so if high beam is 60w (I think) then that's 5 amp per
bulb then.

Sounds right to me.. I'm sure its 60w/40w or 65w/45w either way
11 amp cable will be fine.
If your massively concerned over anything using a heavy load (or
want a safety net on stuff sailing close to the max), you could
always run it via a relay.

If you use the modern 12 core trailer cable, you will get four
2.5mm cables.
I used them for my headlights, fan and earth.
The others run the sides, dips, indicators, horn and coil.
I have 7 core to the back as that was what was already on there.

I've often used trailer cable for faking up DIY wiring looms too
with great success,.... well over £100 for autosparks looms?

7 core from the bulkhead connector plug to the arse end on my
S3. Cheap and easy :thumbs:
