Bolting engine to engine stand

Quick question
I have the use of an engine stand and have removed the clutch,
flywheel and housing so I can use the flywheel housing bolt
holes in the block and use longer bolts to attach the stand arms
to the block.
Are the threads in these holes 3/8 UNF?
Cheers

No idea, but the absolute best of luck timing the engine again,
if it's a 2286. You need the flywheel and housing on to do that
bit......

Their either 3/8 or 5/16th unf from memory on the 2.25
As you've got the flywheel housing of, can't you measure one?
Else ill measure up my engine to stand bolts at the weekend for
you

I'm away from where the engine is at the moment- (it's in the
mother in laws garage), and forgot to take a bolt home with me
but I will be back there at the weekend so no worries.
What about the timing please- the engine itself has not been
touched and the distributor is still fitted. I need to replace
the rear crankshaft oil seal amongst other jobs so needed to
remove the flywheel and housing.
It's a 1980 W plate with its original engine. Isn't the timing
pointer at the front of the timing case?

Unless your taking the timing chain off that issue is irrelevant
I wouldn't bother with an engine stand though unless doing a
full overhaul
They only advantage I see to them is being able to easily turn
the engine over, and have clear access to the top and bottom of
it at once.
When building them I tend to do all the mechanics inside, then
drop it off the sand before fitting the flywheel and then timing
it u

All the best doing the rear main on a three bearing job. I have
done three engines now and all have started to weep after about
a year 8/10,000 miles.
A mates leaked before he got to the end of his drive!
