It's all down to personal preference really, if you paint then
I suppose your going to protect the galv a little bit more and
disguise the fact that it is a galvi chassis.
I undersealed mine using a schutz gun, quick and gets into all
the nooks and crannies. I can't remember what it's called but
it's the stuff that doesn't really dry and remains soft.

I've just ordered mine and I'm planning on painting it.
The plan is Mordant T-Wash, followed by etch primer, and then
       chassis black
I prefer the look of it in black, plus I'd rather it wasn't
       spotted by any thieving scum

Paint it without question in my opinion. Galvanized components
are not immune to all sorts of things compromising the surface
and I've seen several galv chassis showing plenty of surface
rust when the fit and forget mentality is used. I've got 3 galv
chassis either fitted or to be fitted and they all have/will
have a decent coat of paint.
The easiest way paint them is to clean the chassis really well
with a good TFR then apply a coat of mordant solution -

  HTML http://dulux.trade-decorating.co.uk/products/info/dulux_trade_mordant_solution.jsp<br
/>- this is about a tenner from any Dulux decorators centre.
       When
it all turns black you know it's clean enough and will hold
paint. The paint you choose is a matter of personal preference,
ICI chassis black is pretty damn good and a simple 1K product to
       apply.

Paint it and make it look like an old chassis. Otherwise it will
       get nicked very soon.

Paint it, galv goes sacrificial when attacked by road salt, and
shiny silver rear crossmembers look really gay. :)

This was going to be one of my questions for when i get a new
chassis this year for my 1971 series 3,
ok then what paint are you all using, what about primering the
galv, has anyone had problems with paint coming off,
I no someone who use smooth black hammerite and nothing seems to
       stick to that.
I like the idea of wax oil inside the chassis.

^^^ see my comment re: mordant solution - do that and 1K
finishes will stick to the galv.
