Trill?

Yes it is used for budgie rustlers on Cannock chase. As Kev
rightly pointed out trill is fired closely followed by a net to
capture the feckless feathered fellows ::) seems obvious ( to me
???)

It's a scale model of a ship catapult used to launch planes?
(No idea how they landed them back on again though...)

Bouncing bomb shape testing?
[/quote]
Near enough. It's the catapult used by Barnes Wallis
in his research for Upkeep a.k.a. the bouncing bomb. It's in the
Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington.

These days that would be classified as a potential health and
safety risk and "safe" operation would require a 2 week training
course in Chipping Norton for the necessary certification.
I think I would like to keep it at arms length when its fully
extended, i imagine that the laggy band has dried out a bit over
the years :-?
