Hello
Can anyone tell me the size of the brown alternator wires on a
standard Series 3? Mine have got a bit old and I think it's time
for a rewire?
Thanks

Depends on the output of the alternator.
Standard Land Rover alternator is 35Amps I think, not got a book
handy.
Is there a couple of thick ones (prob 3 - 4mm) and thin wire to
the charge light?
Have a look here for wiring sizes and continuous current ratings
HTML http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/cable/standardcable.php
or modern thinwall cable has higher rating
HTML http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/cable/thinwall.php
You can get new plugs too here

Hope this helps
Stu
PS you want a bit of extra capacity built in too, so don't
select a cable/s that will only take 35A (or required ampage) go
slightly bigger/more amps.
Just seen this on S2 forum lucas manual shows 2 x 84/0,30 which
is 6mm cable 50Amp
