       Oil Splatter maybe?

Having just had an engine rebuild (paid for by the
:smiley-furious: blue box people using genuine parts >Htlr<) I
now appear to have what appears to be oil splatter from the
exhaust on startup.. There's no cloud of smoke and it seems to
be running ok. Is it just a case of needing a bit of running in
       - or is there something wrong? Ive done about 25 miles since
       the engine rebuild..

It's probably just due to the rebuild and the oiling of valve
guides etc, more than happy to have a look at it if it's any
help, I'm just up the road from you

Ill be giving it a good run out over the weekend - It's the Fire
Engine/Vintage Vehicle Rally at Preston Park - so hopefully it
will clear it. If not ill give you a holler.

Is it diesel or petrol? Might be a breather pipe or diesel leak
       off pipe.

Are you sure it's oil? Could be just condensation in the exhaust
which gets blown out with a bit of carbon on start-up :-?

If it is its very damp and silky smooth.. kinda like oil.. Ive
never known it to do this in all the years ive had it..

The other thing is that the rear steps and rear quarter of the
tub is getting covered in streaks and splatter too - if it was
carbon it would wash off pretty easily with just water? whereas
this seems to take a bit of effort.
