Vent Flap Seals

I've been a rummaging through my hoard of NOS parts and come up
with what I think are a pair of S3 bulkhead vent rubbers.
Will these fit my 1970 2A?
I have got a hazy idea in my head that there are two different
types?
Which don't like being mixed ???

No idea if there are different types, but if they're from
Paddocks or Craddocks, do not fit them whatever you do!

I think that's only if you have the wrong springs fitted (some
of them have seals on the flaps rather than on the bulkhead).

My seals are from paddocks and they're fine.
Whilst at it, my door seals are the on the roll stuff from
paddocks glued on with sicaflex and its more waterproof than my
dads TD5 110 (at the minute anyway)

Oh well.
Took off the flaps as I'm about to paint the bulkhead.
Then I noticed a scabby rust patch under the bottom of the OS
seal.
So the seals are both off now.
Actually both came off intact, I could reuse them at a push,
but the vehicle is a keeper.
I'll have to see how it goes with the new seals
If they're obvious Micky Mouse jobs then I'll be buying genuine.

I think they're meant to be self adhesive but cant remember (I
do remember they had a backing on them though like double sided
tape. I still stuck them on with sikaflex though as added
security. One thing I do remember though is that the size is
slightly off so its a bit of a faff getting them to look right
in the recess

I'm just asking myself just what sort of adhesive I should be
using.
TBH I never heard of Sikaflex before.
Looks like quality stuff but another £10 - £15 gone.
I'm thinking that I don't want anything that will hold water
against the painted metal surface.
Maybe silicone sealant would be better?

You're supposed to use Bostic or similar. Sikaflex is what the
stick and seal car body parts and panels with, seems a bit
overkill!

genuine series 3 vent seals are not fixed with adhesive. They
are a push on fit on to the bulkhead. The self adhesive type are
for debenders but became common as the push on type can be a
twat to fit.
Any rubber part from Shitpart will deteriorate very quickly no
matter what type of adhesive you use to fit them. You will have
been warned wagfinger genuine seals arent to difficult to find
and arent too expensive either......and should last a good 20
yrs or more!
